Old Diablo sail

The flex tip ( ie the extra bone at the top of the mast) rotates freely.
Does that mean it's broken? Seems a little pointless to have it swinging in
the wind. Is there a bit of elastic or rubber to give it some tension?

I did own a second hand RX1 for a very short time (I hated the shear
tip system) several years ago, and I noted in my sail the flex tip did
not have the proper tension as well. I wrote on the NP Maui site and
Kevin Ozee sent me some parts. I think the hole in the mast tip plug
wears larger and the point at the base of the shear tip that fits
inside that hole wears as well, thus leading to the droop.

I would try to contact Kevin. If you have no luck, let me know. I may
have one buried in my garage (no guaranty).

Re: Old Diablo sail

You can insert a batten from the top of the shear tip into the mast
sleeve, this will give some tension to your shear tip again.
Batten should be between 75-90cm long and use a batten from an old wave
sail flat style. Turbular style battens from slalom sails won't do the
job.

Yeah, mast bung part is what you need.
That said, I never cared one way or the other. Tip is floppy
anyways, and needs to be either on one side or the other to work.
I just use it floppy, it not really affecting the sail one way or the
other.
Giving my shear tip away today.
