Infant/toddler in Hood River

Hello,

I'll be clogging up the parking in the gorge from 7/1-8. My wife and
16-month old are coming. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can rent
a portable crib in or around Hood R. My daughter detests her
pack-n-play, and we found that a portable crib works great. Also, if
you have great places for a toddler around there, I'm all eyes.

Thanks,
Vic

I was hoping someone else would reply.

I don't know of any sort of crib or playpen rental in the area. But
times do change.
When we lived in the area there was a salvation army or goodwill at the
top of the hill that is a mile or so East of Safeway. It is on the
right at the top of that hill. Good place to pick up disposable items
and then return them to when you are leaving. And what you pay is
probably on the line with rental anyway. Just bring some clean bedding
with you.

There is a great park. Not far from that same area. Really good for
the little ones and medium sized ones. A toddler might be a problem if
all the kids are bigger. But most kids and families there were really
nice. It could be the place to kill a hour or so a day if the weather
is nice.

I don't remember any of the street names. But the park is a couple of
blocks to the East of that big hill and North of the Hospital.
Probably a 5 minute drive or so from the Marina. It has a couple of
basketball courts and is near the church. A local can probably give
you directions.

Have a great time
Tom

Re: Infant/toddler in Hood River

Vic,
stop by any store selling kids stuff and look for a copy of 'Kidding
around the Gorge' - a great guide for things to do with kids in the
area, written by locals.

Children's Park (any HR parent can give you directions to walk there
from downtown) is always good.
