Chairlift humiliation!

I thought maybe it was time for a new round of chairlift accident tales..

In Mottaret this year, I grabbed a short chairlift up to a nice quick run,
which literally allowed boarding straight down to our chalets at the end of the
day (fab resort, Mottaret!).

Somehow, as me and my friend Al got off, the front of my board sort of got
caught on the back of his, meaning I had no control and no real momentum, I was
just sort of stuck in a queue behind him.

By the time he was away, I had no momentum at all, so I wasn't really free of
the step-off area... I'm not sure exactly how this happened, but what happened
next was that I ended up stationary and sort of facing the chair which was now
in its turning circle to go back down. As it turned through it's 180 degree
arc, it sort of shoved me backwards, and literally body-slammed me down into
thick powder.

I sat there looking stupid with a bemused semi-smile on my face, while a gaggle
of quality "talent", plus Al, fell about laughing.

I got away with it with just a very small but deep gash and a bruise!

Any other embarassing tales from this season, anyone?

Well, monday it was rather warm out, so at the bottom of the chair, the end of
the platform you stand on dropped off into a bit of a lake maybe 4-6" deep,
which normally wouldn't be an issue. Except that there were still schools
there, and one kid on skis was standing in the middle waiting for a chair and
another one on a board wanted to scoot in beside him. The chair caught that
kid just as it was turning around, before it'd normally pick you up, so the kid
on the board ended up sitting somewhhat sprawled in the middle of the chair.
Lift girl wasn't fast enough on the stop button, or maybe just wanted to watch
this play out. Chair with kid came around to pick up the other kid, who
couldn't really fit, and got pushed off into the lake...

It was warm and sunny. Kid was probably dry by the time he made it to the top.

Not as bad, but probably worth telling:

I was acompanying my friends 5 year old daughter on the chair and she
insisted that she was fine getting off. I believed her until she tried
to get off too early and I ended up under the moving lift trying to drag
her out.

The lift attended was not amused and proceeded to give me a long lecture
(it was in Norweigan, but I understood the hand signals).
