Chris Schofiled and Jon Dakin suing for wrongful dismissal

Chris Schofield of Lancs and Jon Dakin are suing for wrongful dismissal
following the failure to re-engage them at the end of last season.

Neither has a new county as yet. Schofield is a classic case of an
English player being squeezed out by foreigners. He has the best
allround record of any English spinner. RH

Is this a joke ?

God - looks at Cricinfo - it isn't.

Schofield has been given every chance ; and played as a specialist batsman
when he couldn't pitch the ball.

He cannot have the best all round record, simply because he hasn't
actually been getting anyone out for the last 2 years !

I suppose it depends upon how you define "all round record"

For instance, Ashley Giles in fc cricket :
M I NO Runs HS Ave 100 50 Ct St
Batting & Fielding 164 223 41 4859 128* 26.69 3 20 72 0

O M R W Ave BBI 5 10 SR Econ
Bowling 5723.3 1395 14371 496 28.97 8-90 23 3 69.2 2.51

Chris Schofield in fc cricket :
M I NO Runs HS Ave 100 50 Ct St
Batting & Fielding 68 95 14 2423 99 29.91 0 20 40 0

O M R W Ave BBI 5 10 SR Econ
Bowling 1769.2 385 5347 171 31.26 6-120 4 0 62.0 3.02

Of course, Giles' record includes quite a lot of test cricket.

The claim that Schofield has been squeezed out by foreigners is of couse RH's
usual brain-dead ignorant crap. Apart from Schofield himself (remember Mike
Atherton's comment during one of this summer's Tests that, when Atherton was at
Lancs, Schofield "certainly" hadn't worked hard enough at his game), the only
person who might have contiributed to Schofield being released is Simon
Marshall.
