Good vacation spot in Cape Cod

Thought I'd inquire about any good vacation spots in Cape Cod. I've
been to Cape Hatteras a ton of times but know nothing about Cape Cod.
What are the good hotels/beaches where there's something for me the
windsurfer and something for the rest of the family (wife and 2 kids)
to do? I'd prefer flat or small chop as I'm not a wave sailor.

Thanks,

-Bill

well you could just stay in Hyannis..where you can sail on flat windy
Kalmus beach and your family can hop on the ferry to MV..or go shopping.
.lots of restaurants and nightlife also..all of the above without hardly
driving much

the only place I can think of where you can sail right from a hotel on a
really nice beach is the SeaCrest resort, in North Falmouth. its right
next to Old Silver beach which is very nice but crowded in the summer.
but the resort has its own beach..really nice, with lots of lounge
chairs, plus a cool outside bar, a great place to watch sunsets on west
facing Buzzards Bay. they also rent kayaks, Sunfish, Hobie Cats, etc. the
SW wind can be good here but its not as reliable as the S shore beaches.
Falmouth harbor and Woods hole (which is also cool to check out) both
have ferry service to MV, both about a 10 minute drive.

Dennis is very nice, and W Dennis beach is much more of a versatile beach
for both family and sailing (Kalmus is pretty gross for swimming). Also
you will be close to the N shore beaches which are very nice and good to
sail on NW-NE winds.

imo, the best part of the cape is the outer cape: Wellfleet, Truro. huge
sandy beaches with real waves. great for boogie boarding. Dunes that make
Hatteras look like anthills. but, only sailable on the rare easterly
blows. the bay side sometimes works during the more common SW, I think,
but I've never sailed down there.

Cape Cod is more set up around renting a house, rather than staying in a
hotel. Explore that option through some realtors, or get a better deal
by looking online (www.vrbo.com or www.weneedavacation.com).

For your needs, look for something close to West Dennis Beach. Great
sailing and a big beach for everyone. Try to coincide with King of the
Cape for a freestyle show.
