The gist is that Tipoki, whilst a North Harbour player in 2001, played in a
social tournament along with a couple of his North Harbour team-mates
without permission to do so. He broke a hand (or it might have been both
hands) in a fight IIRC, then on return to North Harbour training the
following week, the three of them concocted a story about the broken bones
occurring during a training accident, which was rumbled in about five
minutes. As news goes, the story was quickly overshadowed when some blokes
decided it would be a good idea to fly aeroplanes into the World Trade
Center.

The full article from that page (NZoom OneSport Comment 04/11/2001):
.....
Rua Tipoki was cited for throwing a punch at Jeff Wilson in the NPC
semifinal last weekend while playing for North Harbour against Otago.

Yes, this is the same Rua Tipoki who has only just returned to playing
rugby after breaking both of his hands fighting in a Pa Wars game that he
was not supposed to play in, and then lied and got his mates to lie for
him also to get him out of trouble.

It is also the same Rua Tipoki who was sacked by the Blues earlier this
year after getting sin-binned within a minute of coming on to the field
against the Brumbies in the Super 12.

Apparently Otago asked to see the footage of Tipoki's punch on Wilson and
they were furious that that his actions could have caused Goldie to miss
out on the NPC final if it he done more damage.

Isn't it about time that Tipoki was dumped out of the New Zealand game?
Tipoki is nothing more than a thug and has been in the thick of trouble
throughout his career and despite his immense talents, he is more trouble
than he's worth.

Can't remember, sorry. The name Matua Parkinson rings a vague bell.

I have heard that he is the first NZ player ever to have his Japanese
contract terminated.Regular drunkeness, fisticuffs and a general loose
cannon.
Still he's not a bad rugby player
