|[RSPW.Net] Updates and Changes; Wrestlepedia Released; "Poll" poll, and more!|
Probably no secret by now that your humble webmaster has woken up and is
back to work on the recently-lagging RSPW.Net. Here's what's up these
- I've decided to go ahead and make the rest of the Wrestlepedia, as it
exists, with most of the entries written by ViNNY, Fro, Chad Bryant, and
myself. There are a total of 186 entries, including some really
excellent information on Puro that ViNNY wrote. I had no idea Giant
Baba's story - and with it, the story of Puro - was so interesting until
I read this stuff, it's really worth checking out. Of course there's
lots of other excellent information, including a (partial) glossary,
excellent bios, and more. Anybody interested in helping contribute to
this august body of work is more than welcome to contact me to volunteer.
While unfortunately the bulk of this first set of entries has no author
information attached to it, subsequent entries will include attribution
for the author.
- the "Post of the Week" nominating system is online. Just takes a
second, log in, copy, paste, click a couple of times, and you're done.
The voting mechanism is not yet in place; I'm still fooling about with
various bits of everything, and I'm not rushing to get it all done
tonight; voting will be ready to go by next Sunday the 22nd, which is
when the first set of nominees will be voted on.
- I'm considering opening the polling system up a little bit, to allow
anyone with an RSPW.Net account to write polls. Would y'all use it if I
did, and would you accept that there would be editorial control exercised
(i.e. offensive/flame polls would be deleted; I don't want the thing to
become an extension of the X vs. Y flamewar, nor am I interested in
surveying RSPW's toilet habits)? Currently this function is restricted
to site admins only; if people are interested, I could probably be talked
into changing the construction a little bit and allowing any validated
user to create polls. Holla back.
- There's still a gallery of stills - or the beginnings of one, at least
- over in the LowGenius.Com LowBrary VideoBase that will eventually make
it into a gallery of wrestling shots @ RSPW.Net. Would people perhaps be
interested in contributing some of their photos - with credit, of course
- to a gallery like this? I've got tons of photos from the SCW days
sitting around not being used since I closed the OmegaPowers site - in
fact, I've got rolls of film from that time which haven't been developed
yet! - and I know a lot of other people have pics that they might enjoy
sharing. If there is interest in this, I can fiddle around with creating
the mechanisms to do it. The only downside to this is that I've got
about 200Mb left on my web server; some decisions would have to be made
about how to keep the volume of images under control, at least for now.
Again, holla back - if the interest is there, I'll see what I can put
Blah Blah Blah. That's it for now, drop on by and look around.

Here's a big hint, Mr. Super Programmer. Why don't you stop taking things
live only half-cocked? I know that, since you never actually work, that you
have no idea how to manage a project, but normally, in the world of the
employed, we wait to complete projects and review them internally before taking

Read: I'll make another post on Monday begging for even more donations,
despite the fact that the rubes who have already given me money have nothing to
show for it.
