Definitely Samaraweera over Arnold.

May be Vandort over Dilshan

One more specialist spinner - Dharmasena? Bandarathilake? or Chandana

u need somebody as aggressive as that wonderful player- Arjuna
Ranatunga, to lead, motivate and take the fight to the opposition
camp, if SL goes passive, they will be history.
the likes of Sangakara will suceed more against Aus.

Definitely

Wont happen. Dilshan will play in the first test.

What about playing Locuarachchi?

Dharme and Chandana are not specialist spinners. I thought
Bandaratilleke was old news. Have you forgotten about Lokuarachchi? He
was drafted straight in from jail so they must be thinking of playing
him.

Other than that the team looks ok. Agreed about Samaraweera over
Arnold. That gives only 4 proper bowlers but I can't think of a 5th
guy who is good enough. Dilshan over Vandort for now. It was because
of Dilshan that we won the England series. Were Dilhara fit he could
play instead of Samaraweera. 6 pure batsmen (including Sangakkara) is
plenty. With Dilhara we would have had two left-arm pacies, a right
arm pacie, an off-spinner and a leg-spinner. Beautiful balance. Maybe
for Cairns/Darwin.

Bit worried about Zoysa's sudden burst of form. I have a theory that
the Aussies purposely made him look good as a bowler and batsman so
that SL would be fooled into picking him for the first Test, at which
time he would be made mincemeat out of.

Samare is the most reliable bat in SL. I think he will top the batting
average. Funny the idiots, who were commentating on the ODO's didn't select
him for their teams.

Dilshan should be given more opportunities to establish himself.

I wud go for Loku as the 2nd spinner. It is between Herath & Loku. Whoever
perform well in the SL A match will get the nod.

I am definitely impressed with Loku in the ODO. He looked confident and
composed.

BTW- ara Zoysa is shaping up well.

My team

Marvan
Sanath
Sanga(wk)
Mahela
Dilshan
Hashan(c)
Tilan
Vaas
Zoysa
Murali
Loku

Samare has not been tested by a high-quality attack like Australia,
Pakistan or South Africa. Most of his home runs were scored against
England, Zimbabwe, West Indies and Bangladesh. This is not to say he
shouldn't be in the team, but there is no way he will top the batting
averages. I will take a personal bet with you on this. In fact, if he
plays for all 3 tests I'll wager that he will no longer be second to
Bradman by the end of the series. His series average will be topped by
Mahela, Sangakkara, Tillekeratne, Dilshan and Atapattu.

Should there really be a comma between "Tillekeratne" and "Dilshan"?

Cheers,

I did forget about Loku. May be they should try him out in the 1st Test.

Whereas most of his away runs were scored against - er - nobody.

Yes it will be interesting to see how Samarawera will fare against a high
quality attack.

I have followed Samera's career from Ananda. He was the most consistent
batsman ever to come out of SL school. He was better than Mahela in school
cricket. Even at club level he was very good. If he play to his potential
there is no reason why he cannot top the batting averages. He has the talent
and consistency to achieve this. I would like to see him on ODO side soon.

We will see Chan.
