Clicking knee

My right knee started clicking following a stadium workout on wednesday (running up
and down the steps). There's no pain, just clicks when I straighten the leg - and
it clicks every time. I think it's an overuse injury and I've been resting it the
last two days. The right knee still clicks, but not as loudly as the first day.
Anyone have any ideas about the injury or the recovery time? Thanks,
danny

My left knee has been making clicking and grinding noises for about
22 years now. You are probably right to back off for a little while,
but if there's no pain or swelling I wouldn't worry much. Try working
out the upper leg and butt muscles to keep them loose (stretch, roll
out quads and piriformis, etc).

Mine doesn't so much click as clunk, and it aches in cold damp weather,
but so far it hasn't bothered me whilst running at all. I've never had
or needed medical attention for it, it's just noisy and always has been.
But I'm aware it might be an area of weakness for me.
