WOTT - Carjacking Scenario

Let's say you're driving down a road with light traffic. There's a
sick dog on the side of the road, and you swerve to avoid him. Just
then, a truck coming the opposite way hits the dog, and it explodes in
a ball of blood and guts (and puke, why not) which comes hurtling
towards your car. Splattering all over the windshield, it somehow
manages to bounce off and hit a homeless, crack-addicted black man. In
shock you slam on the brakes, at which point the homeless crack-
addicted black man attempts a carjacking.

What would you do in this situation? Does your martial art teach role-
play for situations such as carjackings? And finally, if you are
interested in self-defense, do you really feel it is worthwhile to
study an art that simply does not apply to this kind of scenario?

Why is the crack addict black? Does it make a difference?

Shoot him or run over him....or both.

Gun-Fu covers this and many other scenarios.

So what you're really saying, is that you have no training wrt a
carjacking scenario..

If I were you, I'd get some, Peter. Judo may cut it on a tatami, but

I think they would get better audiences than for their current show of
"Bumfuck and Fuckass"

It would appeal to a wider audience than their current gay, alcoholic,
early morning kung fu crowds.

I guess we can classify your little "I'm leaving forever" bit with
your "I never wrote that... at least after I deleted it" bit.

As much as I hate to ruin your little scenario, I have to point out
that dogs don't generally "explode" into balls of blood and guts when
they're hit by trucks - especially not at city traffic speeds. They
don't fly through the air, either; and even if they did it would not
be at the upward angle required to hit a windshield. And even if,
rhetorically speaking, they did fly upwards and hit a windshield, it's
pretty damn unlikely that they'd bounce anywhere.

It may sound like nitpicking - and it is to some degree - but it's
also necessary to point out that your entire discussion, like most of
the "arguments" you make on this newsgroup, is starting off from a
complete lack of understanding on your part about how things actually
work. If you cannot understand the painfully obvious things like the
fact that dogs don't explode and/or fly upwards when they're hit by
trucks, how can you *possibly* presume to have any answers (or even
any intelligent questions) about something as complex and dynamic as
an attack.

> What would you do in this situation?

I would start driving again. If he got in front of me and ended up
under the car, that's his fault. If he posed a more immediate threat
I'd shoot him.

> Does your martial art teach role-
> play for situations such as carjackings?

If you're in an area where carjacking is a common occurence it should
be something you think about. For most people it's not necessary
because, frankly, the solution is generally pretty obvious and boils
down to common sense. Lock your doors when you're driving, and keep
in mind that you're essentually sitting in a weapon.

> And finally, if you are
> interested in self-defense, do you really feel it is worthwhile to
> study an art that simply does not apply to this kind of scenario?

It's actually better to study an art that covers a broad range of
general scenarios. Be good at fighting in general, at keeping your
head under stress, and be willing and able to act at a moments
notice. You can't prepare for every possible unique scenario, and
you're largely wasting your time if you try.

Huh? blacks commit the wide majority of carjackings.

A homeless man would not be carjacking someone. That is absurd.
People who do crimes like armed robbery and carjacking are not
destitute and homeless.

Maybe so, but in this idiotic scenario that the idiot has painted for us, it's an
unnecessary descriptor.
