Groan. Don't feed the trolls. Don't respond to this post pointing out the
irony of me replying to this
post telling people not to reply to this post. In this case the ostritch
aproach is best. Ignore the posts
and they will go to the bottom of the rec.juggling page.

Let this be the end of it unless Expert Humor makes anymore posts

dont post responses to spam or make new threads about it ,you will
usually get a roasting for it. here it creates loads of noise for those
using
news readers and seems to piss them off even more than top posting.

I was aware that trolls are to be ignored. Thought that spammers were a
different case. They won't respond well to negative messages will they?
You should have seen the picture I was going to send them. Or rather -
you shouldn't! Thanks to bovrilboy and jugglingeek for the advice.

The rationale for ignoring spammers is that the spam posts very often
won't show up on a lot of news servers, or will be removed soon after
they do. That means that many people thankfully never see them. Knowing
that, it's easy to understand why those people don't want to see the
posts that respond to the spam (which likely _will_ show up on their
news servers).

Generally speaking, they won't respond at all.

Spammers rarely read the groups they spam, threads like this are
pointless and only serve to highlight spam for those of us that didn't
receive it in the first place (my news server didn't carry the original
messages)

As for replying to spam, sending email to them is not only pointless,
it's generally considered stupid. You'll find one of the following
happens:

a) The message bounces back to you because the spammer used a non
existant email address
b) Your isp receives an abuse complaint about you from the innocent
person whose email address the spammer posted with
c) The spammer notices that you've emailed him, and adds your email
address to a list of "gullible suckers with live email addresses"

Note that none of the above result in the spammer seeing the error of
his ways.

I'm thinking about sending e-mails to people who respond to crap I don't
even get to see. Now the only thing I see is you complaining about nothing.

Once again the answer is: get a proper newsreader.

Don't worry Jani, I've been advised as to the following: ignore trolls
and spammers. Don't take the bait. So now you won't see me complaining
about the stuff you don't see. I've noticed a few folk mention the fact
that they read rec.juggling on their newsreader. Does that hold an
advantage? As far as I can see, if you go on the site as normal, then
anything else you want to look at is only a click away.
