Hand and shoulder position while juggling?

Hey. I was wondering about where your hands and shoulders should be
when you are juggling. I watched Jon Brady and his hands are kind of
low on his body when he juggles, and his shoulders are in their
natural position. His hands are almost down to his belt. When I
watch Vova, his hands are a little higher on his body (up his stomach
a little ways) and it looks like his shoulders are raised somewhat.

Which is the right way to position your hands and shoulders while
juggling??
Aaron

I tried juggling with my hands a little lower, but it felt really
weird.

I wonder about this too.

I learned to juggle myself, from books and on-line. I throw with
my elbows at about 90 degrees. I dip my hands fairly low after each
catch, mostly down to my belt (if I wore one). I also make a "sweeping"
motion with my hands as I throw and catch (throws near the
middle of my body, catches more to the side). I was fairly happy
with my method.

Then I went to a course on juggling, given by a local circus school.
There I was told that there should be little to no lateral arm
movement (no "sweeping", thus) and there should be very
little "dipping". You should never let your arms drop, even while
juggling clubs. A much more "rigid" approach, which I find
fairly stiff.

I too am curious to hear other people's stance on posture.

Shoulders should be attached to the upper sides of the torso, below
the neck and above the chest. Hands should be attached at the wrist.

If you look at pictures of good jugglers you will notice that their
hands are usually pretty low. A case in point is Gatto, in the last issue
of JUGGLE there is a picture of him doing five balls with his hands at
belt level.
