NS yesterday -- 2/9/08

With Third Reef cresting every 20-30 minutes, it took me a very long
time (2 hrs) for me to decide to chance the swim. So happy to clear
the very pronounced sandbar at Gums. Stoked to be the only water
photog (stupid enough to be) in the water. It was dicey for the
waveriders, but every once in a while a nugget would come through.
Took nearly an hour to time the paddle back in, but I got really lucky
and came in with no problems. Needed the exercise, but got more
excitement than I bargained for.

That's me with my red helmet. Photo by my good friend Danny Black. So
nice to be in all that power; in my sanctuary.

Trippy how the wave looks so different from the water and from shore.
Check this synchronicity:

My shot from the water (looks like a small tubelet):

Crap man props to you!

Looks like the outside is about to go off.

That is F'n way, way, way out of my comfort zone.
But thanks for the shots.

Same mountain man with the surf site of the same name?
