Hey Shaft! Have I got a lifestyle product for you...

I found an item on Ebay that could change your life. Put 'em on your
surfboards, on your rusty old truck, on the handle of your axe, on your
GF's forehead.

I looked at it again. I'm really slow sometimes.

I don't think it has much to do with Mr. Shaft, though. Have you ever
been
around here when a female
arrives on the scene? Ha! There's all kinds of subtle reactions. And
then there's jb.
He's not so subtle. :-)
What we need is another Hot Cakes to arrive on the scene.

I noticed Van Meter has been absent for a while. She was great. I also
thought Fang moved back
here from West Oz.

Are we talking about the same guy here, amigo Surff? The sunny dude
from western Washington state who always has a kind word for a stranger
and is overflowing with the aloha spirit? The nice PNW profile? His
middle name is shaka, brah. Did you not read the rap sheet that No9

got busted for smiling on a cloudy day.

So, there was nothing "bad"?

Brother Surfer Bob, am I supposed to know that Mr. Lemming is a
criminal bad person? I don't know that.
Mr. Lemming has been a pal since I've been on alt.s. I haven't seen any
proof of any
dastardly deeds.

Most dearly ingenuous and culturally sheltered Doctor Surff,

You misunderstand my meaning. Perhaps you have been so bludgeoned by
the thick layers of sarcasm and innuendo that routinely fly around this
NG that your now seek upside down sensibilities and no-means-yes
tongue-in-cheek sarcasm where none exists. You also failed to detect
that I was obviously trolling Lem. And although you are old enough to
know better, you apparently failed to correctly parse my early Grateful
Dead reference. But at least you struck out swinging. Let us speak
plainly.

I agree with you, of course, that Lemmikins is not a "criminally bad
person." I never suggested otherwise. In fact there was nothing "bad"
in his rap sheet. I made light of this by noting that he was, at worst,
"busted for smiling on a cloudy day." This was a reference to the
lyrics of "That's it for the other one" by The Grateful Dead.
http://arts.ucsc.edu/GDead/AGDL/other1.html

At the time I took the reference to mean being busted for being stoned
(a very minor offense at worst), which might cause one to appear
inappropriately happy to a grumpy police officer. But upon further
research, I found that the original reference may have been to Bobby
Weir literally being busted for smiling at a pissed off cop who had
just been hit by a water balloon (presumably thrown by someone else).
In other words, for nothing at all.
http://www.songmeanings.net/lyric.php?lid=49262

At the risk of further confusing you, I quote from Lyle Lovett's song
"Here I Am."
http://www.lyricstime.com/lyle-lovett-here-i-am-lyrics.html

"...If Ford is to Chevrolet
What Dodge is to Chrysler
What corn flakes are to post toasties
What the clear blue sky is to the deep blue sea
What Hank Williams is to Neil Armstrong
Can you *doubt* we were made for each other?..."

Let me know if you need me to explain anything else to you.

Right? Right!

Naw. Surff and I are just playing our usual game where he pretends to

As for Shaft, we've scarcely heard from his sorry ass since February.
He's either gone back to working a 9-5 for The Man, or else he's too

****

Lemming's content hasn't been copied at all, but his
style has.

I'll admit to it, he's changed the way I post to NGs. Content
is not enough, in fact it's often irrelevant. Bud and Neal
post copious content with a fraction of the response
from AS that Todd gets with the whole longboard
kookage.

But 'belt loops' comes to AS from JB.

Of course, as you know Mike, it's not that people don't appreciate the
visual content of Bud, Neal and others (Awe, GB, lp's vids, the old
Sandman, I'm forgetting others...it's early yet), it's that how many
times can you say: "Sick pix! Thanks!!!". Sure, you can never be too
gracious, I guess, but it just gets hard to keep up with the top-shelf
pix that these people produce on a regular basis.

In this day and age as well, words don't get the same appreciation that
photos get. Short attention spans rule (and I'm one of the worst
offenders). I can truly appreciate the pix, but I can equally appreciate
a well-placed, concise five-word post that makes me laugh, or simply
speaks the truth. Gone are the days of the surf story here, sadly. I
hope those that have contributed them over the years are still writing.

As for the longboard kookage, it has deserved the outcry it has
received. It'll get done this week.

> But 'belt loops' comes to AS from JB.

Content would be something to do with surfing. Like this

Surff and Sully in it.

Style is it's presentation.

I'm partial to the fishnets and heels, Lemming looks good
