Key Horse Picks: Saturday August 20 2005

Good morning, everyone --

I have six picks today, Saturday August 20 2005. To see them all, just
register at:

My Free Picks for today:

Saratoga 5th Race 3:06pm US Eastern Time

Superfly #1 (Pedigree) and Giant Basil #4 (PP#5) (Pedigree) (ML 7-2)

Nick Zito has two superbred 2-year-old colts as his coupled entry
today. Superfly, $210,000 as a yearling, is by Fusaichi Pegasus and is
a full brother to Andromeda's Hero. Zito has a 32% win rate with horses
running for the second time. Superfly's debut August 6 was a race where
he finished third, losing by =BE length. In the race, Superfly ran the
fastest-paced maiden race of the New York season. His 45.39 half-mile
was faster than the winner of the Grade I Test Stakes run later in the

His entrymate, Giant Basil, who also cost $200,000 is sired by Giant's
Causeway. Giant Basil is bred on both sides to win early. Today will be
his debut race and Zito has had him working steadily in the mornings
for this race.

If both colts go, Nick Zito will have double-barreled talent shooting
for the win.

Kilimanjaro #10 (PP#11) (ML 6-1) will be Zito's biggest threat. In
Kilimanjaro's debut July 30, he broke near the back of the pack. He got
running in the stretch, but he had to be checked which may have cost
him the race. He finished fourth. Since then, this colt has had two
bullet works: on Aug 17, he was 1/38 and on Aug 11 he was 1/46. If this
horse, with Gary Stevens up, gets a good break from t he gate, he
should win today's race.

Another horse to watch, though not a Key Horse pick, is Flashy Bull.
He's also an expensive horse who finished second in the July 30 race,
ahead of Kilimanjaro. Flashy Bull has the top speed Beyer of 79 in this

Kilimanjaro and the Zito entry are my Key Horse picks and I'm thinking
Flashy Bull can round out the Trifecta.

Best of luck today and always to everyone. To your Wealth!
